The Montessori School in Oettingen started another round of "SET students discover technology" last school year. Thanks to the support of the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure e.V. (VDI) and the company SPN Schwaben Präzision Fritz Hopf GmbH (SPN), the SET project for MINT-enthusiastic students was continued and the networking between school and company continued. Through vivid and exciting projects that complement regular lessons, the fun and interest in technology and science are to be awakened and promoted. On six mornings, the Montessori students of the sixth and seventh grades had the opportunity to experiment and research in the mornings and to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of electrical engineering without any pressure to learn. During the basic course of the technology enthusiasm project, exciting electronic kits were soldered by the children themselves: A self-built LED flashlight, an interchangeable flasher and a siren were allowed to be taken home by the children at the end of the course. The technology enthusiasts received support from two dedicated SPN tutors. Johanna Kießling and Martin Ruf gave the children practical help in handling the soldering iron and, in their role as tutors, strengthened their own social skills at the same time.
