Top-class measuring technology for SPN

SPN stands for highest precision in drive technology. Besides our staff's extensive know-how and many years of practical experience, it is important to constantly invest in modern technology. The Hommel-Etamic C608 shaft measuring system from JENOPTIK ordered in June has now been delivered and has been in constant use since September. The CN-controlled system with automated process has a measuring range with Ø80 mm and a length up to 600 mm. It enables optical non-contacting measuring. This reduces the measuring time compared to tactile, i.e. tactual measuring significantly. The measurement accuracy is approximately 2 µm. The operators have the possibility to create the desired CNC program in advance. Besides measuring lengths and diameters, it is also possible to measure geometric tolerances as well as a wide range of different threads. Having also purchased an offline programming station, it is possible to create the measuring programs concurrently. At SPN the shaft measuring system is used in the turning shop and during the incoming-goods inspection. After we have moved to the new factory in the summer of 2017 and after the related changeover to the use of process chains in the production department, it will also be used in the grinding area. JENOPTIK held a two-day in-house seminar to ensure that the members of staff responsible are able to use the new high-tech measuring instrument optimally.
