Unveiling of the vehicle muc022 - Rollout on 28.04.2022

SPN Schwaben Präzision has been involved as a sponsor for the TUfast Eco racing team for several years, working with the students to develop components for the transmission and powertrain. The team has been divided into process groups, including Autonomous, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations and the Management & PR Team. In total, the team consists of about 70 active members of more than 28 nationalities. Therefore, the communication among each other is exclusively in English.

For about 1.5 years the students have been working on the successor of muc019+, muc022. In the beginning, the team around Rafael Schellhorn de Sá and Jonas Ohnemus (team manager and technical project manager) did a lot of concept work. For example, the drive was modified to achieve even greater energy efficiency. With the help of computer simulations and certain test procedures, the components were developed and optimized. In the process, attempts were made to improve the vehicle's efficiency with weight reduction and better aerodynamics. The team responsible for the autonomous driving strategy also worked flat out.

In cooperation with the sponsors, including SPN, the Munich team came closer and closer to the finished car. On March 16, five students visited SPN Schwaben Präzision to assemble the transmission in our assembly shop. The TUfast Eco team is enthusiastic about the cooperation with the traditional company in Nördlingen: "It is always interesting for us students to put our theoretical knowledge into practice. We are in close contact with employees from the development department at SPN to perfect components. We are very grateful for the active support in assembly and part manufacturing that we receive from SPN."

Also, the production of muc022 was only possible thanks to the motivation of the members*involved in the various production processes.
Unveiling of the muc022 vehicle

On the evening of the rollout - at the end of April - the vehicle was presented for the first time to supporters, acquaintances and friends of the association. People were taken on a journey and were able to follow the creation of the vehicle. The evening was under the sign of efficiency, which ran through the whole presentation like a red thread.

At the end, the finished vehicle was proudly unveiled. Applause and enthusiasm spread throughout the hall among the guests and especially among the TUfast members.

At the end of May the Shell Eco Marathon will take place, where muc022 will be put to the test.
