Since May 2016, Andreas Traub has been the sales representative responsible for the regions North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Wuerttemberg and the whole of Switzerland. He has learned the requirements of the drive sector from scratch. After his apprenticeship as toolmaker and 4 years at the German armed forces, he continued his studies as certified technician for machine tools.


He worked as developer and designer for more than 25 years, after that in the project business and technical sales for a Swabian company in the drive technology sector. In his private life, he moved from Biberach to Lake Constance in 2016 and looked for a new professional challenge in this area, too. “I had known SPN very well from several fairs,” Traub said. “I always wanted to work as a sales representative for premium-segment drive technology.”


Mr Traub does not only see his work as being a technical sales employee, but also as being a brand ambassador of SPN. He especially likes the big portion of consulting service with which he convinces existing and new clients of the high quality of SPN drive technology. In this context, his long-term work as designer and developer is a big advantage for him. “SPN is mainly a strong partner for various sectors in terms of developing specific drive solutions. I like finding, together with clients, custom-made holistic solutions. Our clients stem from many different sectors: from different mechanical engineering companies to small metalworking shops to large automotive companies, aviation, arm industry or even space engineering.” Mr Traub is enthusiastic about the atmosphere at SPN: “A great, powerful team from the apprentice to the management. In this way, there are almost not frictional losses in the handling between counseling, sales and realization.” He sees his personal challenge in exceeding the agreed targets. “I have always been a success-oriented person. I want that the margins for SPN are fine in the long run and that the clients get a fair price at the same time. Only in so doing is a sustainable and long-term partnership possible.” Mr Traub sees the strength of SPN mainly in the fast development of complete drive solutions. Many companies would still think in a classic way, order components from the catalogue and afterwards – without being able to estimate the work behind it – look for specific solutions. “I always try to show the TCO to clients, the real total costs. Because the SPN total concept is really worth a try! I am always surprised if clients do not include internal work/costs into their calculations.” Not only during work, but also in his sparetime, Andreas Traub is really focussed. Over a long period, he was a member of the German shooter national team for long ranch distances up to 1000 metres. After that, he was a trainer for young shooters for many years. His second hobby brings relaxation, sewing. “Just for fun, I do USA cowboy action shooting in historic clothing of the 1850s – 1890s. I sew the necessary holsters, knife sheaths and further accessories by myself. This gives me real relaxation after several days of sales representative work.”
